Rebranding: Mountain Equipment Company (MEC)

Mountain Equipment Company (MEC) has long been a trusted name for outdoor enthusiasts, known for its high-quality gear and deep-rooted commitment to sustainability and community. Originally founded as a co-op, MEC built its reputation on helping people explore the great outdoors. However, over time, the brand began to drift from its core values.

As part of a group project, we set out to rebrand MEC and bring the focus back to its original mission: inspiring and equipping people to spend more time outside. The slogan, “Some watch. We adventure,” encapsulates MEC’s dedication to those who live for the thrill of the outdoors.

My role in the rebranding effort was to design key branded assets, including clothing tags, a paper bag, a journal, a letterhead, and an envelope. Each design embodies the adventurous spirit and timeless reliability that MEC is known for, helping the brand reconnect with its roots and its audience.
