The Corner Shop Cafe
Located in Lloydminster, Alberta, The Corner Shop Café is a small ice cream shop and concession-style café that opened in the spring of 2024. Despite its warm and welcoming atmosphere, the café faced challenges in establishing a clear brand identity. Without a logo or cohesive branding, it struggled to differentiate itself and attract new customers. The goal of this rebrand was to create an identity that reflected the charm of a local, family-friendly business while appealing to both the community and tourists. Additionally, the project aimed to develop a fun and inviting events package, including digital invitations, customizable treats like ice cream sundaes and cakes, and engaging activities such as board games and crafts.
The rebrand drew inspiration from the cozy, nostalgic feel of a “mom-and-pop” shop, particularly the charm of chalkboard-style menus. This aesthetic, with its hand-drawn doodles and personalized messages, became the cornerstone of the new brand identity. It reflects the café’s vision of being a fun and safe space for people to gather and indulge in sweet treats. While the café’s wide menu made it challenging to choose a single focus for the logo, the decision to feature an ice cream cone was guided by community feedback and the café’s reputation for delicious ice cream. The final design, featuring a playful ice cream cone illustration and a chalkboard-inspired style paired with a warm color palette, captures the inviting essence of The Corner Shop Café. The new brand identity not only enhances recognition but also sets the stage for future growth, making the café a beloved destination for both locals and visitors.
